Privacy

FlyAeroplane stores very little. This page says what, why, and how an address is removed. It is general information about this site, not legal advice for your own organisation.

Newsletter addresses

The form on this page stores an email address only if you tick the consent box. With the address we store the consent wording, the time you consented, a confirmation token, and the time that token stops confirming the address. If you later open the confirmation link, we store that time too.

We hand the mailer one message, to the address you typed. It contains a link to confirm the address and an unsubscribe link that deletes it. No further message is sent. An unconfirmed address is not a mailing list, and a confirmed address is not a mailing list either, until a newsletter exists. We do not sell the address.

The confirmation link works for 14 days. The unsubscribe link keeps working after that. Both links contain a secret token. Do not forward the message. This page does not repeat the links.

Submitting an address that is already stored does not create a second row and does not send another message. The next page does not say which of the two it was. If you lose the unsubscribe link, use the contact page and name the address. That message is stored for an editor. It does not delete the address by itself.

Flight-school submissions

If you submit a school, we store the name, place, website, licences, approval number, description we add, and the contact email. The contact email is for the editor. It is not shown on the public school page. The listing stays unpublished until an editor publishes it. Publishing is not a check that the approval number is valid.

Sessions

Forms that need a security token start a session cookie. Pages without a form do not. The cookie is not an account, and this site has no public login.
